Dark and Moody Gothic Wedding Flowers | The Nature of Things Fine Flowers

For those who love the mysterious and romantic, this dark and moody gothic wedding in Riverside, California was pure magic. Designed and styled with deep, rich tones of burgundy, plum, and red, this wedding was a true work of art — lush, evocative, and inspired by the haunting beauty of a 17th-century Dutch still life painting.

A Gothic Romance in Riverside

Set against the backdrop of a stunning historic marble building in Riverside, this wedding perfectly captured the allure of gothic romance and old-world luxury. The bride, draped in a custom black tulle gown with a red underskirt and feathered shoulder pieces, looked like a vision from a painting. Her Spanish lace-edged black veil, moody eyes, and rich red lips completed the look, with Janine and Jackson creating her ethereal hair and makeup — long, flowing black curls falling mid-back.

Dark and Lush Wedding Flowers

The floral design by The Nature of Things Fine Flowers celebrated texture, tone, and drama. The arrangements featured black magic roses, explorer roses, black calla lilies, burgundy orchids, red hibiscus, plum ranunculus, and hanging amaranthus, all paired with rich seasonal foliage. To bring an extra layer of depth and decadence, we incorporated fresh fruitsplums, pomegranates, and grapes — nestled among the blooms. Velvet and silk ribbons tied everything together with opulent detail, creating a luxurious, Dutch still life-inspired aesthetic.

A Table Set for Gothic Elegance

The reception tablescape was just as striking. Black velvet linens, plum glassware, black and gold flatware, and black plates set the foundation for a moody, sumptuous scene. Burgundy tassels, deer skulls, and feathered crowsadded a touch of dark fantasy and symbolism, perfectly complementing the florals’ intensity. The overall design was lush, rich, and utterly transportive — a feast for the senses and a dream for lovers of gothic style.
